The drive from Alvisquer to Madrid offered views of the Spanish countryside with interesting castles, scrub brush, olive trees and grape vines.

Last night in Portugal

After many excellent meals at Casa Rosa, on our last night in Portugal, we ventured out to the nearby town of Cabanas for dinner. Cabanas is a delightful fishing village with some strict rules. We enjoyed local selections like tuna and sardines. Dinner was delicious. After some pictures by the docks, we headed back to Casa Rosa for a last night of conversation and packing!

Local delicacies

As you might imagine, food preparation is an ongoing activity at any Todd gathering. Slicing of the 4 kilo jamón iberica takes two people... as does the preparation of the sardines. We enjoyed many products made in Portugal!

Around the Algarve

The southern coast of Portugal features numerous picturesque towns and beaches.
Near Alvisquer is the beach in Monta Rota.






The town of Albufeira is a popular tourist destination.






This train takes tourists to and from the beach.




The town of Tavira straddles the Ria Gilão.













We enjoyed theMoorish castle and garden.





From this hilltop cobblestone paths and streets lead back down to the river.
